Addo Elephant National Park situated deep within the dense valley, bushveld of the Sundays River region of the Eastern Cape. Safe from hunters, these gentle grey giants now freely roam the bush. The original Elephant section of the park was proclaimed in 1931, when only 11 elephants remained in the area - today this finely tuned ecosystem is sanctuary to over 420 elephants, 450 Cape buffalo, black rhino, a variety of antelope species, as well as the unique flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo. For the first time in over 100 years, lion and spotted hyena reintroduced to the park last year helps a story of sanctuary unfold, but that is just the beginning. Plans to expand the 148 000-hectare Addo National Elephant Park into a 360 000-hectare "Greater Addo" park are moving forward at an exciting pace. This expansion is transforming Addo into the ultimate tourism destination.

The historic Royal Port Alfred Golf Club constituted in 1907 is situated in Port Alfred on the South East coast of the Eastern Cape half way between the Ports of East London and Port Elizabeth. The Prince of Wales visited the club in 1927 granting the club is Royal prefix; today his putter mounted in the bar is testimony to this. Full of humps and hollows, Royal Port Alfred is challenging and often windswept. As many as 300 rounds per day are played at the height of the season in December.
One of the true links courses in South Africa, it is set on the rolling hills of Port Alfred, with plenty of indigenous bush, game and wonderful sea views. The 5800-meter course has a unique layout making it a golfing experience not to be missed. The course is usually open every day of the year except Christmas Day.
The Mad Hatter tournament takes place at the end of April / early May each year over 6 days (and nights) and is a festival of Golf and Merry Madness. Advance booking is essential!
