Cape Town – 3 night optional Extension
By adding this extension on you allow yourselves 4 nights in Cape Town exploring this stunning first world city
Want to stay longer – ask us!
This is not a self-drive extension, but rather a collaboration of day excursions, which will take you to view Cape Towns famous landmarks. Let us know which of the impressive list below interests you and we will organise you tours accordingly – half and full day excursions available.
Mother City tour: Go up the famous Table Mountain while your guide explains the fauna and flora that is unique to the area. You will then take a tour of the City, including a visit to the SA Museum, the Malay Quarter and the harbour. Your tour then takes you to Millerton, for a spectacular view of Table Mountain, the sea and the city. It is then back to Cape Town.
Winelands Tour: A scenic drive winds its way into the heart of the Cape winelands, through superb mountain ranges, vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads. It also includes a brief visit to the historic town of Stellenbosch. Wine cellar tour and tasting is a major highlight of this tour. Stellebosch, Franshoek and Paarl are home to some of the best wines in the world.
Cape Point: You will travel along the Atlantic Seaboard stopping at Llandudno and continuing to Hout Bay followed by the optional (and seasonal) Seal Island boat trip. Afterwards, get ready for another coastal drive through Constantia Nek and Ou Kaapse Weg to Cape Point (where the ‘two oceans meet’) and the Good Hope Nature Reserve, containing a wide variety of plant, bird and animal life. After lunch at a nearby restaurant, you will visit Simonstown, and a large penguin colony at Boulder's Beach. The tour ends with a visit to the well-known Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
Township Tours & South African history: Includes a brief educational introduction to Cape Town, The Bo-Kaap, (Malay Quarter) and District 6. Capture the unique culture, lifestyle and personality of the Cape Muslim community. District 6, now barren landscape, was the place from where many Capetonians were forcibly removed from their homes during the Apartheid years. The Townships and Cape Flats are home to a vibrant black community whose ‘shacks’ are Apartheid’s hangover and Robben Island is the place where former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years.

HERMANUS AREA
2 night optional Extension
By adding this extension on you allow your selves a total of 3 nights HERMANUS area
Want to stay longer – ask us!
Hermanus is built along the shores of Walker Bay near the Southern most tip of Africa. Magnificent mountains watch over the town which is home of the Southern Right Whale. Nature lovers from all over the world visit Hermanus to view these magnificent creatures from the best land based whale watching destination in the world. Hermanus area accommodation includes accommodation establishments in Onrus, Vermont, Sandbaai, Voëlklip and Fisherhaven areas.
ABOUTH THE RIGHT WHALE was so named because it was considered to be the 'right' whale to catch. Rich in oil and baleen (the large food filter plates which hang from the roof of its mouth) and a whale which floated in the water when killed, this slow-moving leviathan became one of the most ruthlessly hunted of all species of whales. Today, the northern right whale is virtually extinct. In the southern hemisphere populations show a slow increase since international protection in 1935. There are estimated to be about 3 000 - 4 000 southern right whales at present, with South Africa receiving the major percentage visiting its coasts annually. Present populations of southern right whales are a fraction of estimated initial stocks.

By adding this extension on you allow your selves 4 nights on the Garden Route exploring this stunning coastal wonderland
Want to stay longer – ask us!
The Garden Route is a popular and scenic stretch of the southern coast of South Africa. It stretches from Hermanus in the Western Cape to Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape.. It includes towns such as Mossel Bay, George, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay.
It has a Mediterranean maritime climate, with moderately hot summers, and mild to chilly winters. It is one of the richest rainfall areas in South Africa, most of which occurs in the winter months, brought by the humid sea-winds from the Indian Ocean.
The Route is sandwiched between the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountains and the Indian Ocean. The Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma indigenous forests are a unique mixture of Cape Fynbos and temperate forest and offer hiking trails and eco-tourism activities. Nearly 300 species of birdlife are to found in a variety of habitats ranging from fynbos to forest to wetlands.
Ten nature reserves embrace the varied ecosystems of the area as well as unique marine reserves, home to soft coral reefs, dolphins, seals and a host of other marine life. Various bays along the Garden Route are nurseries to the endangered Southern Right Whale, which come there to calve in the winter and spring (July to December).
The most popular exploration of the Garden Route is by car; it is also site of Africa's last remaining passenger steam train, the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe.
