After your arrival in Durban, one of our representatives can meet you and show you to your hire car (optional) or alternatively go directly to the car hire desk at the airport. Complete the usual formalities before driving away with your vehicle. We have chosen a 4x4 for this adventure as the terrain can be unpredictable. You will set out via Pietermaritzberg, and pass the waterfalls and Howick until your reach the Drakensberg Mountain Range.

After an early breakfast depart the Drakensberg and work your way toward the Indian Ocean lined coast of KwaZulu Natal / Durban. Drive towards St Lucia through the Natal Midlands via the Valley of 1000 Hills. This beautiful area is generally mist covered and the rolling green hills shelter quaint villages, cosy pubs, creative studios and a variety of restaurants and coffee shops. Further north, the coast of Maputaland is pristine and lush with high-forested dunes, seasonally inundated wetlands and beautiful coastal lakes. Major attractions here are the greater St Lucia Wetland Park, diving at Sodwana Bay and magnificent game reserves.

After breakfast you can take a drive to the Hluhluwe / Umfolozi National Park and then continue South on the coastline to Balito Bay. Balito Bay lies on the Dolphin Coast and is a vibrant bustling town. Arrive in time for sundowners and spend the night out on the town getting a bit of local flavour and colours.

After breakfast time permitting spend some of your day in Balito Bay for some shopping and relaxing walks on the beach – the beaches in Balito Bay have life guards and secure shark netting.
Head back towards Durban International Airport where you will drop off your vehicle at the airport and continue on your travels.
