For your first 2 days of this tour (Cape Town and surrounds), you can self-drive, have a private guide or do group guided excursions – the choice is yours! We will then bring you your car on the morning of day 4 for your day at leisure and your onward travels.

Itinerary
  Day 1   CAPE TOWN
     
  After your arrival at Cape Town International Airport, one of our representatives can meet you and assist you in completing the car hire formalities (optional). Alternatively collect your car and drive to your guesthouse. If you prefer we will collect you at the airport and take you to your guesthouse, where you can meet the car hire company and go through the formalities of car hire. They will also hand you your travel documentation with vouchers, maps etc. Your hosts at your guesthouse will be able to assist you in deciding where to go in and around Cape Town. If time permits, then you can go immediately to the V&A waterfront and take a sunset cruise (weather permitting)

  Day 2   CAPE TOWN - PENINSULA
     
  After breakfast, take a drive around the scenic Cape Peninsula. Visit Hout Bay and take a boat trip to Duiker Island to see the seals. Drive over the spectacular Chapman’s Peak to Noordhoek and on to Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope. Return along the False Bay coastline to Boulders and visit the 3 000 strong colony of African Penguins. Continue to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and enjoy a quiet walk through the indigenous vegetation. In the evening, relax or party at one of Cape Town’s nightclubs.

  Day 3   CAPE TOWN - WINELANDS
     
  Today you will travel with a local tour operator to the wine lands. (We do not suggest self-drive, as drinking and riving is a criminal offence) Get up early for a nice and tasty breakfast to line your stomach before you set off for Cape Town’s breathtaking wine farms. Enjoy the day with beautiful views, and of course delicious wine. Eat lunch at one of the farms and purchase some wine, the farms can assist you in shipping it overseas. Suggestion for the day: Stick to one colour wine

  Day 4   CAPE TOWN - LEISURE
     
  After 3 fun filled days in Cape Town, take this day (weather permitting) to do some shopping, get some rest and tan on the beach or if the weather is having a bad day – go to the aquarium at the Waterfront or go see a movie. There is much to do and see in the centre if town from antique shopping to local craft markets and some wonderful offbeat cafes on Long Street. Go to Exclusive Books sit in their coffee shop and submerge yourself in their books. Go to Robben Island, and of course, not to be missed – Table Mountain. Go to one of the delis and buy a small picnic lunch, and find a quiet spot on the Mountain to feed your soul, taking in the Majestic city below. Tonight you will go over you maps and routes for the next leg of your journey.

  Day 5   CAPE - TOWN to SALDHANA BAY (West Coast)
     
  We leave Cape Town and, we head up the west coast to Saldanha Bay, a beautiful natural bay. En route we visit the holiday resort of Yzerfontein to enjoy a cup of coffee. You can also enjoy a day trip to the West Coast Fossil Park where we will see the fossilised remains of the great African Bear amongst others. You will even have the opportunity of searching for fossils yourself. Afterwards, you drive through to Veldrif and Paternoster, both quaint fishing villages on the West Coast. For those who wish, a tour up the West Coast to Lamberts Bay to se the gannet colony of several thousand birds, then to Clanwilliam, the only place in the world that grows and processes the healthy Rooibos tea. While in Clanwilliam, you can visit the Strasburger shoe factory where you have the opportunity of watching them manufacture the famous “velskoene” and purchase a pair.

  Day 6   SALDANHA - KAGGA KAMMA GAME RESERVE
     
  We leave the west coast behind us and travel via Tulbagh, a town devastated by an earthquake in the 60’s and Ceres, known for its fruit industry to the Kagga Kamma Reserve with its wild animals and the San (bushmen). Kagga Kamma Private Game Reserve is located in an untouched wilderness area south of the magnificent Cedarberg Mountains, three hours from Cape Town near Ceres. The reserve well known for its scenic beauty and dramatic rock formations typical of the Cedarberg and has a rich cultural heritage with hundreds of Bushman/San rock paintings or rock art of up to 6000 years old. On our celebrated San Cultural Tour, guests can appreciate the ancient Bushman living sites at first hand and get an in-depth interpretation of the rock paintings from one of our expert guides.

  Day 7   KAGGA KAMMA GAME RESERVE
     
  Spend today at Kagga Kamma Private Game Reserve on their hiking or take a guided trip to have a look the Bushman paintings whilst the guide deciphers them for you. They even have a mini observatory for the stargazers. Go on a 4x4 guided drive or just sit and relax, reading a book and looking out at the spectacular view. Their Health and Beauty Spa offers a wide range of treatments including deluxe manicures and pedicures, hot stone therapy and luxury facials. Unique to Kagga Kamma Private Game Reserve is their new Fynbos Therapy, incorporating the finest essential oils indigenous to the fynbos area.

  Day 8   KAGGA KAMMA - PRINCE ALBERT
     
  We depart from Kagga Kamma Private Game Reserve and drive through the Karoo (San for “dry place”), a semi desert area. We visit Laingsburg; a town nearly destroyed by a flash flood in the 60’s and stop for lunch. We continue through the Karoo until we reach the quaint town of Prince Albert. Prince Albert is a delightful South African village in the Karoo, which is part of the Western Cape. They have a superb climate, and spectacular night skies. The village is a small gem, with beautifully preserved Cape Dutch, Karoo and Victorian buildings - 13 of which are National Monuments. Hiking, mountain biking, scenic drives, birding and bird- watching are major attractions.

  Day 9   PRINCE ALBERT - OUTDSHOORN
     
  We pass through the Meiringspoort, a kloof cut by a river through the mighty Swartberg Mountains. Continue on to Outdshoorn dubbed the “Ostrich Capital” of South Africa. Experience the world’s largest, flightless bird at the Ostrich Show Farms in Oudtshoorn. These birds known throughout the world for their feathers, leather and meat also make for interesting riding – if you dare. Outdshoorn is also home to the "shy 5" i.e. meerkats and other secretive critters. In the afternoon, there is time to relax, or you can have a look at the impressive Cango Caves. Outdshoorn is famous for its cheetah conservation project, where you may even get the chance to stroke a cheetah. The Cango Caves is just one of the many natural wonders in the Little Karoo. Water, time and simple chemistry have combined, over hundreds of thousands of years, to create a magical display of carved caverns, corridors and dripstone formations deep within the Swartberg Mountain Range.   Day 10   OUTDSHOORN - GEORGE / MOSSEL BAY
     
  After a visit to an Ostrich show farm or a day at leisure, take a drive via the Outeniqua pass to George where you can visit the train museum. George is the sixth oldest town in South Africa, situated in the beautiful Western Cape Province and is the Capital of the Southern Cape. The town very centrally situated halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth and centre of the Garden Route - ideal from where to explore the area. George situated on a 10-kilometer plateau between the majestic Outeniqua Mountain to the north and the Indian Ocean to the South. George is also home to the Outeniqua Choo – Tjoe an old steam train runs from George to Knysna over some of the most stunning scenery on the garden route. A small harbour town with a big heart, Mossel Bay situated 1.5km off the N2 on the East Coast of South Africa in a region known as the Garden Route and the Eden District. To reach Mossel Bay from Cape Town you can travel on Route 62 or on the N2. This town lies close to Swellendam, Oudtshoorn and Knysna. Holiday-makers, tourists and visitors alike, always enjoy the 24km’s of sandy beaches, washed by warm waters of the Indian Ocean (including two north-facing beaches), boat rides and whale watching, big game viewing and extreme adventures, fascinating museums and excellent shopping. Take your pick among the wide range of arts and crafts activities; various entertainments for the whole family; restaurants for every palate and top-notch accommodation for every budget. It's hardly surprising, that some people call Mossel Bay in South Africa, 'The Bay of Attractions.'

  Day 11   GEORGE / MOSSEL BAY - KNYSNA (Garden Route)
     
  Today you will leave George / Mossel Bay and go to Knysna. Knysna is the largest town on the Garden Route. Knysna is world Famous for its Oyster Festival and the Knysna Heads. The town nestles between the impressive Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean, with the world-renowned indigenous forests surrounding it. At the heart of Knysna is the 21 ha lagoon protected from the sea by the well-known sandstone Knysna "Heads". The “Heads” make this lagoon a haven for holidaymakers. Take a drive to the next town Sedgefield located between Knysna and George. Also a resort town Sedgefield offers the bird watcher a variety of beautiful bird species to be found in the surrounding area. There are many hiking trails. At the same time, you can marvel at the beautiful and colourful wild flowers and fynbos. To the west lies Swartvlei, forming a safe estuary for bathing.

  Day 12   KNYSNA / SEDGEFILED
     
  Today is a day of leisure. You can choose one of several activities such as a half day excursion to Featherbed Nature Reserve or, for the more adventurous, abseiling down the cliffs, quad biking or sailing though the Knysna heads into the open sea. For the more sedate, spend time exploring the town and waterfront or relax at the pool and catch up with your postcards. Today you can take a short to Storms River Bridge, one of several spectacular bridges over the river gorges that the road crosses. On the way, you can stop and take a walk through the indigenous forest to see one of the giant 800-year-old Yellowood trees. Perhaps we will meet one of the few remaining elephants in the forest. On the way, back we stop at the Bloukrans River bridge to watch bungee jumping, which at 216m is the highest jump in the world. After a day of fun in the sun drive back to Knysna and maybe stop at Plettenberg Bay for a drink.

  Day 13   KNYSNA - MALAGAS
     
  Leaving George you will drive through Mossel Bay, first landfall of the Portuguese discoverers in South Africa. After looking around Mossel Bay, continue to Albertinia where you can visit the Aloe processing factory, here you see how the various health and beauty products are made, and have a chance to purchase some. Have lunch at historic Swellendam, the 3rd oldest town in South Africa. After lunch, drive onto Malagas on the Breede River with the only working commercial point in South Africa. For those who would like to, there is a boat cruise (pontoon ferry) on the river. From Swellendam, a dusty gravel road leads to the mouth of the Breede River. 50 kilometres before Cape Infanta, a bumpy road turns off to Malagas. The English merchant Joseph Barry founded the sleepy little village at the river in 1819.

  Day 14   MALAGAS - HERMANUS
     
  From Malagas you will drive down to Cape Algulhus, the most Southerly tip of the African Continent. We visit the Alexandrian style lighthouse before making our way to Hermanus, the whale viewing capital of the world (July to November). Enjoy the day at leisure, watching the whales and catching up on last minute shopping. Hermanus is about 80km out of Cape Town and is a well-known tourist destination. After checking in at your Guest House enjoy the village centre of Hermanus, take a swim or walk at the beach. Tonight enjoy a meal out on the town and sample the village nightlife.

  Day 15   HERMANUS - STELLENBOSCH
     
  Today you will travel along the beautiful False Bay coast, through Gordon’s Bay and Somerset West to Stellenbosch. This student town is 45 minutes away from Cape Town - The heart of South Africa's wine industry, Stellenbosch is a place of great beauty and culture steeped in South African tradition. The Stellenbosch Wine Route is arguably the country's most famous, and the Stellenbosch Wine of Origin area includes 106 cellars - most of which are open to the public. Enjoy a long day's wine tasting and wine buying you will sip more than our great South African wines - you will taste our South African way of life.

  Day 16   STELLENBOSCH - CAPE TOWN
     
  Leaving Stellenbosch behind you will drive toCape Town – the Mother City. This is your last chance to see what you did not get to see at the beginning of you trip. Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It does not matter how long you are here, the beauty of the mountains, sea and wine estates will impress you. Cape Town is the capital of the Western Cape Province. It is a city with two faces, European and African. It is a blend of the first and third world. Cape Town has a number of very interesting museums such as the South African National Museum, with planetarium, the Bo-Kaap Museum and the National Gallery. In the town center is the Castle of Good Hope. The Castle built in 1666 by Van Riebeeck was the first building by the VOC. Today it still serves as the headquarters of the Western Cape Military. Table Mountain situated on the south side of Cape Town with its table shape provides a beautiful view over the entire city. The easy way up is by cable car. The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is a working harbour and shopping / entertainment centre. You can shop, eat out, watch a movie or hang out from early morning until late in the evening. Situated at the Waterfront is the Two Oceans Aquarium, with more then 300 species of marine life. Ferries depart from the Waterfront to Robben Island. This famous, or infamous, prison island can be visited on a 3,5 hour tour. You will be taken on a tour around the island and visit Nelson Mandela’s prison cell. It is a moving experience. A visit to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens should be on the agenda as well. It is one of the world’s great botanical gardens with spacious lawns and botanical diversity. It is also a starting point for many walks on Table Mountain. Stop at Rhodes Memorial on the way to the gardens for a beautiful view over the city.
